Dear Parents, Staff, and Students,

Living Word Academy must have 100% of its faculty, staff, and students tested for COVID-19 because we are in an Orange Zone.  Additionally, 25% of our faculty, staff, and students will continue to get tested on a weekly basis, so that every four weeks 100% of our faculty, staff, and students will have been tested.  Onondaga County is going to provide support to our school to achieve these requirements by providing free testing for faculty, staff, and students at the Academy.  Here is what you need to know:

1.       Please have your children report to school as normal on Monday, 11/30.  If you are a staff member who works directly with children, please come to school on Monday to get tested.  We will use the school gymnasium for testing.

This includes office staff, kitchen staff, nurses, study hall monitors etc.  It does NOT include cleaning crew staff. Pre-K students are included, nursery staff/children are not.

The County will be coming to school on Monday to test in the morning or afternoon.  We will provide more details on the exact timing as soon as we hear from the County.

2.       In the next couple of days, a link will be emailed/texted to you from LWA so you can register your child(ren) and/or yourself for testing.  You may pick any time slot because the time slots do not actually matter.  What matters is that you sign up and provide consent for your child(ren)/self to be tested.  This way the county has consent and a total count of people who will be screened.

3.       If you (staff) or child is not signed up and tested for COVID on Monday, you cannot return to school in person until you are tested for COVID.  If you have COVID symptoms, please do NOT come to school on Monday.  You will have to seek out a COVID test on your own before you can return to school.

4.       The COVID test that will be administered will be a nasal swab test, but one that only swabs the outter rim of the nasal passage (this will not be a painful process for your children).  Results will come back in 3 to 5 minutes after the test and children can go back to class.  If we have any positive results, we will use our isolation protocols:  isolate the positive test and send them home.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
